The Girls in Blue and White

This week, Chapter President Megan Stroup and Recruitment Advisor Diamond Scott are representing the Alpha Gamma chapter at Grand Convention. This year is particularly special because Alpha Delta Pi is celebrating its 160th anniversary, which makes us the first sorority to reach this milestone. The 2011 Convention is being held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Ariz., from June 22 to June 26.
Thursday morning, Megan had the privilege of carrying the Alpha Gamma flag in the Adelphean Processional, an important Convention tradition. This tradition is especially dear to our Mizzou chapter because it was instituted in 1941 by our own Alpha Gamma alumna, former Grand President Caralee Strock Stanard.
Chapter President Megan Stroup and her roommate, Kelly Rumbaugh (Chapter President, Eta Upsilon, Wake Forest University), wear their blue satin ribands in preparation for the processional.

The processional is meant to re-create the original walk of the Adelphean Society founders through Wesleyan Female College in 1851. We wear the same blue sashes with our open motto, “We Live For Each Other,” and all-white clothing, from our shoes to our sweaters.
The processional also serves as a roll call to recognize the 202 Alpha Delta Pi chapters founded in the U.S. and Canada since its founding in 1851. Active chapter flags are carried by their chapter presidents while closed chapter flags are carried by alumnae and other collegiate members.
Megan poses with other representatives from Omicron I province after the Grand Convention picture, including Angela Morton (Recruitment Vice President, Delta Nu, SEMO), Ashley Carlson (President, Delta Nu, SEMO) and Robin Sowders (President, Gamma Nu, William Jewell College).
