Somehow unsatisfied with the cultural mecca that is Columbia, Missouri, journalism major Kate Kerans (PC ’06) spent the past semester studying advertising in Pamplona, Spain. There, she lived with other Spanish students where she took (and probably aced) all her journalism classes in Spanish. When she wasn’t setting the curve for her fellow students, Kate took the opportunity to travel throughout Spain and to places like Ireland, Italy, Amsterdam, and London.
In May, Kate took what she described as “a little weekend trip down to Barcelona,” (because where else would you go on a weekend jaunt? Please.) where she spotted and was promptly photographed with a giant lion. Alphie would be proud. Pictured above, Kate is on the left, with fellow MU student Leslie Rieder.
And if Barcelona wasn’t enough of a day trip, Kate and several other ADPi’s met up in London one weekend. Shelby Rothman (PC ’06) was already studying there through the Journalism school, and Maria Loida(PC ’06) and Patty Bloom (PC ’07) came in from the Brussels Journalism program for a reunion. Below, Shelby, Kate, Patty and Maria impress locals and break hearts on a regular basis.
Still not quite ready to return to Missouri, Kate stayed for San Fermin, or the Running of the Bulls, in Pamplona, which Kate says “was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced.” Starting on July 6, Kate and thousands of other observers woke at 5 AM and dressed in red and white clothing, with traditional red scarves, to watch the bulls run.
Kate, third from left, manages to look awfully cute at five in the morning.
If for some reason Kate’s advertising career doesn’t work out, she can always freelance for National Geographic.
